Choose the solid, enter its dimensions in one consistent unit, and calculate. The answer is expressed in cubic units, such as cubic inches, cubic feet, or cubic meters.
Cube volume = side³. Rectangular prism volume = length × width × height. Cylinder volume = pi × radius² × height. Sphere volume = 4 ÷ 3 × pi × radius³. Cone volume = pi × radius² × height ÷ 3.
A cylindrical tank with a radius of 2 feet and a height of 5 feet has volume pi × 2² × 5 = 20pi cubic feet. That is about 62.83 cubic feet.
Multiply cubic feet by about 7.4805 to get US gallons. A volume of 10 cubic feet is therefore about 74.81 US gallons.
