Worked example

For a sphere with a radius of 5 cm, the volume is (4/3) × pi × 5^3 = 523.60 cm³. Its surface area is 4 × pi × 5^2 = 314.16 cm².

Common questions

Can I use the diameter instead?

Yes. Divide the diameter by 2 to get the radius before calculating.

Why are the result units different?

Surface area uses squared units, such as cm². Volume uses cubed units, such as cm³.
