Enter the expression using numbers, parentheses, and the required functions, then choose degrees or radians before using trigonometric functions. Parentheses are worth using because the calculator follows the standard order of operations.

Each function applies its usual mathematical definition. Examples include power: x^y, square root: √x = x^(1/2), common logarithm: log(x) = log base 10 of x, natural logarithm: ln(x) = log base e of x, and sine in degree mode: sin(θ) = sin(θ × π/180).

Worked example

In degree mode, enter 12 × sin(35) to find the vertical component of a 12-unit length at a 35-degree angle. The result is about 6.88 units.

Common questions

Should I use degrees or radians?

Use degrees when angles are written with a degree symbol or described in everyday geometry. Use radians when the problem uses π or explicitly asks for radians.

Why do I get an error for some logarithms?

For real-number calculations, log(x) and ln(x) require x to be greater than zero. Zero and negative inputs are outside their real-number domains.
