This calculator adds or removes VAT for customers, businesses, and freelancers working with VAT-priced goods or services.
The interactive vat calculator loads right here. If it hasn't appeared, refresh the page.
Enter the amount, VAT rate, and whether the amount excludes or includes VAT. Choose carefully, since removing VAT is not the same as subtracting the VAT percentage.
For a net amount, VAT = net amount x VAT rate / 100, and gross amount = net amount + VAT. For a gross amount, net amount = gross amount / (1 + VAT rate / 100), and VAT = gross amount - net amount.
A service costing €200 before 20% VAT has €40 of VAT, making the gross price €240. If €240 already includes 20% VAT, the net amount is €200.
Divide the VAT-inclusive total by 1 plus the VAT rate as a decimal. For 20% VAT, divide by 1.20 rather than subtracting 20%.
Use the rate that applies to the product or service in the relevant country. Reduced and zero rates may apply, so check the current tax rules.
