This calculator estimates take-home pay for employees comparing a salary or gross paycheck with what reaches their bank account.
The interactive paycheck calculator loads right here. If it hasn't appeared, refresh the page.
Enter gross pay, pay frequency, filing details, tax amounts, and deductions such as insurance or retirement contributions. Use figures from a recent pay stub when possible, since payroll rules vary by location and employer.
Net pay = gross pay - federal tax - state and local tax - Social Security and Medicare tax - other deductions. Annual salary is converted to gross pay per period by dividing it by the number of paychecks per year.
Suppose gross biweekly pay is $2,500, taxes total $590, and other deductions total $210. Estimated net pay is $2,500 - $590 - $210 = $1,700 per paycheck.
Payroll withholding depends on your tax forms, location, benefits, and employer settings. Bonuses, overtime, and pretax deductions can also change the result.
Many health insurance and traditional retirement contributions do, but the rules differ by deduction and tax type. Check your pay stub or benefits documents before assuming every deduction is pretax.
