Income Tax Calculator

This calculator estimates income tax for workers and self-employed people who need a planning figure rather than a filing verdict.

The interactive income tax calculator loads right here. If it hasn't appeared, refresh the page.

Enter your income, eligible deductions, and the tax brackets or rates that apply to you. Include filing status and location when the calculator offers those options.

Taxable income = gross income - eligible deductions. For progressive tax, estimated tax = the sum of income taxed within each bracket x that bracket's rate, minus applicable tax credits.

Worked example

Suppose gross income is $68,000 and eligible deductions are $15,000, leaving $53,000 of taxable income. If the first $12,000 is taxed at 10%, the next $36,000 at 12%, and the remaining $5,000 at 22%, estimated tax is $6,620 before credits.

Common questions

Is all my income taxed at my top rate?

Usually not under a progressive system. The top rate applies only to the portion of taxable income inside that bracket.

Why might the estimate differ from my return?

Actual tax can include credits, special deductions, investment income, payroll taxes, and local rules. Use the result for planning, then use official forms or professional advice when filing.
