What Do Turtles Eat?

by Watson Factius

Some turtles are carnivores, and their diet consists mostly of meat, such as insects, fish, and other small animals. Other turtles are omnivores, and their diet includes both plant and animal food.

Still other turtles are herbivores, and they eat only plants. The type of food a turtle eats also depends on its size. A large turtle can eat larger prey than a small turtle.

In general, though, all turtles need to eat food that is rich in nutrients and easy to digest. This is why many turtle owners feed their pets special turtle food that is available at pet stores.
